Turned Rush Stool Discovered in Garage

Turned Rush Stool – Dad’s garage!

Ubiquitous in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, these fireside stools graced the British homes of all classes. This piece has unusual turned legs.

When found – under a pile of wood in Dad’s garage – the wood was caked with years of grease and staining.

A rub down and re-oiled has brought out the rich grain and highlighted the unusual shape of the lathe-turned legs of this piece. To finish off some fresh rush seating has brought this piece back into use.
